Not A Smart Move:

The Remnant, a traditional Catholic newspaper, has a news section on the right side of its website. (Click here to view the Remnant's site.)

On Friday, May 23, 2008, the Remnant posted a link to a "Traditional Catholic" website in Italy. The Remnant's link stated: "Finally, a Traditional Catholic Site and Forum." (Click here to view the "Traditional Catholic" site.)

On this Italian site, one can begin to see its political bent and who it is apparently trying to market to. There is a photo at the top of Archbishop Lefebvre next to an apparent picture of Mussolini. This site also carries banner adds from Forza Nuova, a neo-fascist organization in Italy founded by Roberto Fiore. (Click here for past stories on Roberto Fiore.)

Also, if you go to the political links on the "Traditional Catholic" website from Italy, you find numerous links to Forza Nuova. (Click here for the political links.)

Below is a little taste of Forza Nuova.

Roberto Fiore Update:

Rome Diary: Italy's Leap Into the Dark
Gaither Stewart

Below is and excerpt from the above story.

If the violence on the Right continues growing at today’s pace (and there is much supportive data ignored or underplayed by the media) then there is real cause for alarm. Especially when it happens in the Region of Veneto, in the city of Verona, famous for Romeo and Juliet and art and opera lovers. Or in nearby Treviso where a Northern League leader incited (jokingly, one says) hunters to shoot at immigrants. Local heroes in this milieu are Alessandra Mussolini, the dictator’s granddaughter, a member of Parliament and part of Berlusconi’s coalition, and Roberto Fiore, head of the extreme Right and the violent Forza Nuova organization. This violent Fascist Right is closely linked with the autonomist-separatist Northern League, in rich north Italy Berlusconi’s chief ally and his biggest vote getter. The folkloristic Northern League considers the Rome Mayor’s Celtic Cross a symbol of their ancient Celtic ancestors … not of the SS, as it was.

Roberto Fiore Update:

Euro seat for Italian neo-fascist Fiore
By Malcolm Moore in Rome
Last Updated: 11:54PM BST 23/05/2008

A leading Italian neo-fascist with a nine-year conviction for conspiracy after the bombing of Bologna train station in 1980 has taken a seat in the European Parliament.

Roberto Fiore, 49, came to Britain in the wake of the bombing, which left 85 people dead and over 200 wounded. The attack was carried out by the Nucleus of Armed Revolutionaries, a far-Right terrorist group.

Although Mr Fiore, a member of the Third Position cell, was not directly involved in the execution of the bombing, he was convicted for conspiring to carry out an armed attack. He lived in the UK for several years.

"He is absolutely the most extreme person who has ever served in the European Parliament," said Glyn Ford, a Labour MEP. "There are other MEPs who feel strongly about this. We usually put up a cordon sanitaire around the far-Right politicians."

Roberto Fiore Update:

There is nothing sensational here, just an interesting link which should be saved.

Below is a Babel Fish "translation" of some points made by Fiore in the E.U. Parliament. The link above will take you to the original Italian and will most likely be updated as Fiore's time in Parliament increases.

Mr. President, members of parliament connects, would want to say here that c' it is an action d' accusation regarding a government who for two years has allowed l' entrance of hundred of thousands of persons and has allowed at the same time that these persons lived in a state of incredible degradation, creating a new one sottoproletariato. It goes also made an indictment regarding who has not thought next to a moratorium in the moment in which Roumania and other countries they entered in the European Community.

I task that l' Italy does not have the possibility to face this problem, approvals the most serious problems - we think next to the refusals, we think next to the job, we think next to the problem of the house! The problem of the Roma is an insurmountable problem, since the fields of so-called solidarity are the fields - and it yesterday demonstrates the transmission to it of door Door - theoretically lawyers, but where there are continuously abuses in the comparisons of the children and the situations hygienic-sanitary are absolutely terrible.

I task that l' only thing that l' Italy can make - and l' Europe must support l' Italy in this surf - or: 1) see again the treaty of Schengen in order at least six months regarding l' Italy, since this sat recognizes that c' it is a problem of emergency Roma in Italy, therefore suspension of the treaty of Schengen; 2) l' institution of the crime of clandestine immigration, than in other countries exists, also in Italy; 3) to negotiate, together to Roumania, the Bosnia, the Macedonian, the Serbia, that is communitarian and extra communitarian countries, the human repatriation of the Roma present on the national territory.

I wonder what Ron Paul thinks about IHS Press' co-founder Derek Holland? Do you think anyone told him about the International Third Position or the European National Front?
